Firefox 2 / IE7

The good = Firefox 2
The more I use the new Firefox 2 theme the more I like it. Thankfully, unlike IE’s interface, it is possible to make custom mods to Firefox. I used the wonderful Grapple way of displaying the Bookmarks toolbar. Also, not seen in this screenshot, I modded the Gmail notifier icon since the default one sucks really bad. Finally, I modded the Download Manager window so that it doesn’t suck as much anymore. The very fact that you can change the way Firefox looks and feels makes it a million times better than any browser ever made.
The bad and the ugly = Internet Explorer 7
I just don’t get it. Are they trying to get people to switch to Firefox or something? Microsoft really busted up their browser… big time. If they had to monkey with the layout and the icon design why didn’t they just use the guys that did the interface layouts for the XBOX 360 system blades? I’m sure they could have come up with something way better than this. The things that really irk me are: the menu bar can not be placed at the top of the window, the tabs are way too wide and can not be configured, the home and refresh buttons can not be placed with the other navigation buttons. I just can’t get used to it.
