Trying to Switch... Again
Posted on: 06.05.2006
I tried switching over to an Apple only environment once before, right when the G5 towers were released, but I soon found out that OS X wasn’t up to my needs yet.
As of late, however, I’ve had my eye on the Mac mini core duo... mmmm, tiny. What sealed the deal for me though was Boot Camp, now there really isn’t any reason why I shouldn’t pic up a Mac and give this switching thing one more try.
I’m hoping that maybe there are some folks out there that have made the switch and can help me out with some software issues I know I’ll run into.
CSS Editor
I know most web developers do everything by hand, and I do as well, but I like my TopStyle way too much to just let it go. It organizes all of my attributes, notifies me when I’ve made a typo, and best of all it allows me to right click on any hex value and quickly choose a color with a very fast and simple eyedropper. I think this is going to be the hardest thing to live without. So, here’s my first question:
“Is there any CSS editor/HTML editor/Random Utility out there that does something similar to TopStyle but for OS X?”
I suppose I could live with just a simple Eyedropper that converts colors to hex but I’d really like a decent CSS editor as well.
Window Resizer
For the past year or so I’ve gotten quite used to running all of my applications in “window” mode without maximizing so that I get used to Apple’s way of dealing with application windows. In the process I found a very hand little tool for Windows that lets me resize any window to any dimension that I want. On to question two:
“Is there any tool that allows me to resize ANY OS X window to any set of dimensions and also allows for centering?”
Is there anyone in the Mac world out there that can help me? If so, please leave a comment or contact me. I know I’ll end up using Boot Camp for most situations but I’d really like to make a complete switch for web development purposes.
